Common product questions.

Short answers about pairing TVs, 86'ing items in real time, switching templates, and what we don't yet support.

What do I need to run TVMenus?#
A Google TV device is required. That's either a TV with Google TV built in (most TCL, Hisense, Sony, and Walmart onn. TVs) or a plug-in Google TV streamer on any HDMI TV — see the [Google Store](/go/google-tv) or [Amazon](/go/google-tv-amazon). Install the TVMenus app on it, and manage everything from any web browser.
What TVs are supported?#
Any TV with Google TV built in (most TCL, Hisense, Sony, Walmart onn.). If your TV doesn't have Google TV, add a plug-in Google TV streamer ([Google Store](/go/google-tv) · [Amazon](/go/google-tv-amazon)) to any HDMI port — the easiest way to run TVMenus on the TV you already own.
How do I 86 an item?#
Open the menu in the dashboard, click "Hide for…" on the item, and pick a duration (1h / 4h / End of day / Tomorrow AM / Indefinitely). The selected screens update within a few seconds.
How do I pair a TV?#
Install the TVMenus app on the TV. It shows an 8-character code. Enter that code in the dashboard at /welcome (first-time setup) or /devices (later).
How many screens can I have on one account?#
No hard cap. You're billed $9 per screen per month ($7/screen once you run 5 or more, every feature included). Unpair a TV anytime to stop billing on it.
How do I reset my password?#
Go to /forgot-password and enter your email. We'll send a reset link that expires after one hour. You can also sign in via magic-link from the login page — no password needed.
Can I switch templates without losing my items?#
Yes. Click "Template" in the menu editor and pick a new one. Your items carry over; only the visual layout changes.
What about POS sync (Toast, Square, etc.)?#
Not in the product. Real-time menu item management is built in (86 an item from any browser, scheduled slides, multi-screen sync) so most owners don't need POS sync to keep prices and availability fresh. If it's a blocker for you, [let us know](/contact).
My screen went black — now what?#
Check /reliability for the device's status. If red, the TV isn't reaching our servers — usually network or sleep. Wake the TV, wait 30 seconds, then force-quit and reopen the app if needed. If that doesn't work, [contact us](/contact) with the device ID.
How do I set up multiple screens in one restaurant?#
Pair each TV separately. Group them by Area inside your Site (bar vs dining room, drive-thru vs counter). Each Area can show a different menu, and you can change all of them from one dashboard.
