Devices

A "device" is one TV paired to your account.

Supported TVs

TVMenus runs on:

  • Google TV — built in to most TCL, Hisense, Sony, and Walmart onn. TVs.
  • Plug-in Google TV streamers — add Google TV to any HDMI port (Google Store · Amazon).

If your TV doesn't have Google TV built in, a plug-in streamer is the easiest upgrade.

Pair a TV

  1. Install the TVMenus app on the TV from the app store.
  2. The app shows an 8-character pair code.
  3. In the dashboard go to /welcome (first-time setup) or /devices (later) and enter the code.
  4. The TV will refresh and start playing.

Sites and areas

Group devices by physical location:

  • Site = one address. A restaurant with one storefront has one site.
  • Area = a zone inside a site. Many restaurants only need the default "Main" area; multi-area setups (e.g. bar vs dining room) get separate areas so each can show a different menu.

Reliability monitoring

/reliability shows the live status of every paired TV. Each device shows:

  • Green — checked in recently.
  • Amber — late check-in; investigate if it persists.
  • Red — offline for more than 5 minutes. We'll email account admins.

Alerts are rate-limited to one per device per hour to avoid noise.

Unpair a TV

From /devices, open the device row and click "Unpair". The TV will return to the pair-code screen, and the device is no longer billed.
